but goddamn you katie grand!
my homegirl moss in a clinch with my favourite designer's muse, lea t.

is oral sex safe?

my good friend jaime winstone has presented a documentary for the bbc about how the human papillomavirus (hpv), which can be transmitted through oral sex, could lead to rare orophyrangeal cancer.
i recently lost an amazing friend, paul nicholls, to cancer and there is a moving tribute to him by jaime in the documentary.
please take an hour of your time to learn some more about this rare but alarmingly increasing medical condition, it's available for viewing on bbc iplayer.

farewell che camille

back in 2007, i went along to che camille's 3d fashion show with a group of college friends which took place in the now infamous chateau. this was also my first meeting with owner, camille lorigo, and at that moment i could never have predicted what impact she would have on my professional life.
throughout the years, camille was always a constant source of guidance and inspiration. from lending clothes for personal project shoots to setting me up with shoots for new designers, camille encouraged me and my confidence in myself grew as a result.
when i went down to visit camille in the new incarnation of che camille at the saltmarket to tell her about an exhibition piece, "chicks who smoke", i was planning, she was the first person to offer a studio space to showcase the work.
where other people had dismissed the idea and questioned my ability to pull it off, camille was extremely supportive from the word go, and spurred me on in every way possible.
after the exhibition, she allowed my work to be displayed in her stores, both at saltmarket and in argyll arcade and was a real advocate of the project. even taking my work to the pop-up store in camden, thus allowing me to add an exhibition in the mecca of london to my cv.
working as part of the team in various fashion shows and the creation of lvb models, camille filled you with so much enthusiasm and no idea was ever too big.
can we really do a catwalk show on the subway? SURE WE CAN!
this may be my personal experience of che camille, but i know it was the same for a lot of other young creative people, trying to find their way in the fashion and arts industry.
che camille was a real nurturing ground for homegrown talent and i am deeply saddened to hear today of it's closure.
i'd like to thank camille for the support over the years, i sure as hell wouldn't be where i am today and have the self belief that i have if i hadn't wandered along to the chateau all those years ago.
i know this won't be the last we hear of camille, and can't wait to see what the future holds.
but for now, che camille, you will be so dearly missed.
thank you from the bottom of my heart.

saturday night's alright

once again, i've been shamelessly addicted to the national phenomenon that is simon cowell's x factor. cancelling weekend plans to indulge have been a common occurrence for me these past few weeks but it all ends tonight.
i'm rooting for the underdog, cher lloyd. we all know she doesn't stand a chance of winning but how odd is it that if you say the name "cher" to most people in britain right now, they will immediately think of lloyd, rather than cher of the non-moving facial expression camp. in fact, when you type "cher" in google, there are three other more popular suggestions before the ageing pop icon.
the power of the cowell.

my main kudos of this season however, go to grace woodward.
woodward was taken on board as the new fashion director this season and hasn't she done well!
in previous years contestants looked like advertisements for topshop and all saints but ms woodward has been dressing contestants in none other than, gareth pugh, maison martin margiela, mark fast, house of holland, jonathan saunders and if rumours are to be believed, the lovely rebecca ferguson will be slipping into a victor + rolf number this weekend.

and speaking of rumours, cher lloyd will be allegedly taking on nine year old willow smith's "whip my hair". tonight's previous plans are indeed now cancelled.

mind the gap

for models these days, it seems to be a prerequisite that they have a gap in their front teeth. opinions are divided on this current trend but it is nothing new, harping back to the sixties when blonde bombshell brigitte bardot was the epitome of vixen and poster girl for female sexuality right through to vanessa paradis in the early nineties.
there is a myth that a gap in your front teeth represents wealth and i'm pretty positive that this ailment hasn't harmed any of these girls' bank balances.
vive le gap!

francois ozon

i hold a special place in my heart for french cinema, in particular the work of screenwriter and director, francois ozon.
due to the release on dvd of his latest venture, "le refuge", i've been revisiting some of his classics.
a master of characterisation and human study, his features are highly recommended additions to your lovefilm list.

girls of st. martins

photos by saga sig

now, if you're like me, when you think of a central st. martins student, you think of a faceless pretentious hipster, the type of person to go to a house party and hog the computer all night watching margiela runway shows on youtube, crying into their wine glass about the beauty of it all.
but the guys over at vice style have done a little shoot with some of the female students of csm, sort of like a high-brow version of the seasonal girls of fhm annual.
and the verdict, they're not all that bad after all.
the jury is still out on the male students though.
the rest of the photos are available at :

not as exciting as a cheryl cole calendar, but a worthwhile time killer nonetheless.
